Eva Trout is an alternative rock band from Australia. In 1993, ex-Catherine Wheel bass player Grant Shanahan placed an advertisement for a guitarist, and was answered by musician Bek-Jean Stewart. Stewart convinced Shanahan to listen to her perform on a live radio broadcast, and Shanahan then scrapped the vocalist with whom he had been working. The act would release a five song EP in 1994, but there would be major personnel changes a year later during the sessions for its first album, including the addition of keyboard player Steph Miller, drummer Bert Thomson, and guitarist Matt Galvin.〔(Tom Demalon - Allmusic )〕 Mingling Stewart's vocals with mandolin, acoustic and electric guitar and harmonica, Eva Trout recorded its first Australian album ''Along Woodland Rides, Through Tunnels of Evergreen''. In 1997 this was re-recorded and released for the U.S. as a self-titled album after Trauma Records caught onto the group when Atlanta radio station WNNX added their track "Beautiful South" to heavy rotation.
